About Research, Innovation & Enterprise at, Alexandra Hospital

Research, Innovation & Enterprise (RIE), established in 2018 under Medical Affairs at Alexandra Hospital (AH) is led by the Vice Chairman Medical Board (Research). The team facilitates projects and supports researchers, specialising in health services research, public health, epidemiological studies, healthcare technology, and healthcare evaluation.

AH RIE team evaluates different healthcare delivery models, care consolidation, and multimorbidity management. The research team offers quantitative, qualitative, and artificial intelligence capabilities. Addressing Singapore's aging population and rising healthcare demands, the RIE team conducts evidence-based research to improve patient outcomes and care quality. In partnerships with government and industry, the office bridges clinical practice and research innovation, supporting strategic interventions that enhance patient experience and maintain high care standards.

Achievements at a Glance

  • Strong research contributions: 81 publications from 2021 to 2025, contributing to advancements in healthcare knowledge and practice
  • Significant grant involvement: Played a key role in securing and supporting SGD 4.95 million in research funding from national and institutional bodies, enabling medical and healthcare innovation projects.
  • Collaborations across healthcare ecosystem: Worked closely with a wide range of partners to improve patient care and healthcare systems:
    • Internal: AH clinicians, nursing, pharmacy, MSW
    • External: MoHT, NUS/NUHS, Synapxe, SICM, GBD
  • Commitment to education and capability building: Organised and contributed to training initiatives such as:
    • Workshops on AI and digital health
    • Training in qualitative research methods for healthcare staff
