Surgery and Anaesthesia Programme (SNAP)

2025/11/03

The Surgery and Anaesthesia Programme (SNAP) at Alexandra Hospital is committed to providing an excellent perioperative journey through a multidisciplinary approach. Our team comprises nursing, anaesthesia and specialized surgical skill sets to provide surgical suites that offer high-quality, cost-effective surgery. We do ambulatory or same-day discharge surgery for many procedures including hernia repairs, urological, ENT and eye surgeries. Our use of minimally invasive and robot-assisted surgery reduces the length of hospital stay and patient recovery times. We are constantly assessing value outcomes and conducting patient satisfaction surveys. The teams put themselves at the forefront of surgery innovation with treatments such as robotic knee replacement and advance cervical spine surgeries. With a growing ageing population, our anaesthesia department is also part of chronic pain management in collaboration with other units, especially as the prevalence of chronic pain rises. We focus on early discharge and just-in-time rehabilitation so our patients can return to their daily lives quickly. We integrate our primary care providers into the care model to consolidate the continuum of care and reduce fragmentation. We strive to redefine the ambulatory surgery experience to deliver the highest level of care to patients, most efficiently.
