Dr Debbie Goh is an Associate Consultant in the Department of Ophthalmology at National University Hospital (NUH). She is a clinician-scientist with a clinical practice encompassing comprehensive ophthalmology and cataract surgery, with developing subspecialty expertise in medical retina and vitreoretinal disease.
Dr Goh earned her Bachelor of Science (Honours), Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery, and Doctor of Philosophy from University College London. She subsequently obtained her Masters of Medicine in Ophthalmology from the National University of Singapore in 2024, and holds fellowship from the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (UK) and the Academy of Medicine (Singapore). During her residency training, she served as Chief Resident from 2024 to 2025 and completed the 12th Singapore Chief Residency Programme.
Driven by a commitment to integrating clinical medicine with translational research, Dr Goh was awarded the A*STAR National Science Scholarship (MBBS-PhD), which supported her medical and doctoral training. Her PhD research focused on photoreceptor transplantation, and her subsequent research has spanned inherited retinal diseases, retinal degeneration, retinal pigment epithelial biology and stem cell-based therapies. Her current research interests include retinal regeneration and translational retinal science. She was Lead Principal Investigator of an NUHS Health Services Research Seed Grant investigating home-based retinal imaging for chronic retinal diseases, and has presented her clinical and research work at regional and international meetings.
Dr Goh is fluent in English and Mandarin.
