Dr Chua Mui Teng is a Senior Consultant and Deputy Research Director with the Emergency Medicine Department at National University Hospital (NUH), and an academic faculty member with the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore.
She holds qualifications in Emergency Medicine, Public Health and Sports Medicine. She was the inaugural Chief Resident of the NUHS Emergency Medicine Residency Programme, and remains actively involved in training and developing residents and junior clinicians.
Clinically, Dr Chua’s interests include emergency ultrasonography, critical care and medical technology development to improve patient care and diagnostics. She also pioneered the use of high-flow nasal oxygenation in NUH’s Emergency Medicine Department.
As a clinician-investigator, Dr Chua’s research interests include critical care, epidemiology, medical technology and ultrasonography, with a track record of peer-reviewed publications and mentorship of early-career researchers. A recipient of the NMRC Clinician Scientist Individual Research New Investigator Grant, Dr Chua's work has also been honoured with the Annals of Academy of Medicine, Singapore Best Publication Silver Award (2017).
Dr Chua is open to collaborations with partners locally and internationally across academic and translational areas aligned with her research interests.
